Closing the digital divide

Technology has been improving faster than we can catch up. Children have grown up using technology and are able to use it naturally. We as adults have had to learn to use it just like we would learn a second language. Here at Otay Ranch High School, we understand that there is a need to close the digital divide between parents and their children. We are willing to place an effort to help parents bridge that gap. Our Online Support Coach Juan Ramirez will be offering tutorials to parents on applications commonly used to monitor student progress. He will also build a repertoire of tutorials and place them on the Parent section of the school website.

Cerrando la brecha digital

La tecnología ha estado mejorando mas rápido de lo normal. Los estudiantes han crecido usandola y es muy natural para ellos. Nosotros como adultos hemos tenido que aprender a usarla como si estuviéramos aprendiendo un nuevo idioma. En la preparatoria Otay Ranch entendemos que hay una necesidad de cerrar la brecha digital entre padres y sus hijos. Nosotros estamos dispuestos a ayudar a los padres a acortar la distancia. Nuestro tutor en tecnología Juan Ramirez va a estar ofreciendo conferencias en aplicaciones usadas comúnmente para monitorear el progreso de los estudiantes. También va a crear una lista con videos y los pondrá en la sección de padres de la página web de la escuela.
