Halloween Dress-Up Guidelines

Tuesday, October 31st, 2017
Otay Ranch High School

All costumes must be school appropriate! Please use good judgment. Halloween is not a time to make fun of others. Identity is not a costume.

Although dressing up for Halloween is fun, education is the first priority at Otay Ranch High School. Thus, costumes must not inhibit a students’ ability to participate fully in classes.

Please note the following rules regarding costumes:
• No clown costumes
• No revealing costumes; All dress guidelines still apply (no revealing tops or short shirts permitted)
• No costumes that may offend others due to race, culture, gender, religion, or sexual orientation
• No toy weapons or objects/elements that represent violence
• No masks
• No gang, drug, or alcohol references

If ANY costume is deemed inappropriate by a member of the administrative team, the student will be required to change. If alternate clothing is not available, the student will be asked to wear PE clothing, or call a parent/guardian for assistance. If you are unsure if your costume is school appropriate please contact one of the administrators.

Kindness Week

This week is Kindness Week where our goal is to create an awareness of mustang unity and to demonstrate and generate positivity throughout campus  We will have spirit/activity days throughout the week.

Monday – Spread the Love Day.  Wear Pink for breast cancer awareness but also as a symbol of love.  ASB will be passing out chocolate kisses to everyone who wears pink.

Tuesday – Hi Five day.  ASB will be handing out Hi-chews to students and asking students to send their “hi-five boomerang” posts to share over Instagram.

Wednesday – Compliment Day.  ASB will have a table set-up for students to send to a friend a positive compliment that we will deliver during period 5 on Friday.

Thursday – Share your smiles Day. ASB will be handing out a limited number of buttons with words describing how they are feeling today and taking polaroid pictures of students sharing their smiles

Friday – Unity Day. Want everyone to wear blue symbolic of everyone united as a Mustang. Blue is also the color representing National Bullying Prevention month. During lunch time ASB will be asking students to place their hand-print on a banner sized butcher paper to show their Unity for all students at Otay Ranch and to take a stand against bullying.
